Custom Tables
Custom tables turn your materials into Rift Orbs, help you plan your next dungeon, and let you reforge or salvage equipment. Each workstation has its own purpose and accepts specific items.
Choosing a workstation:
Creates Rift Orbs from Rift Shards and the materials requested by the table.
Customizes a Rift Orb with Focuses, an objective, or a dungeon theme.
Uses Runes and Scrap Metal to reforge equipment modifiers.
Recycles unwanted equipment into Scrap Metal for the Runic Forge.
Visit the market NPCs at spawn to buy available workstations, or craft them using the recipes below. Place the table and right-click it to open its interface. Custom recipes require the actual custom ingredients shown.
Rift Crafter
The Rift Crafter makes the Rift Orb you use to open a dungeon portal. Each craft needs one Rift Shard and four different material requirements. Find out how to gather shards in the Ores guide.
Crafting recipe:
Use one item in each occupied slot to craft one Rift Crafter. Any type of planks can be used in the four wooden slots. The bottom row requires Midnight Cobblestone.
Making an orb
Place a Rift Shard in the input slot on the left. The crafter records your current player level and reveals four material requirements in the middle. Click a requirement to supply matching items from your inventory, or shift-click matching materials into the menu.
Once all four requirements are filled, click the output on the right. The menu closes while the table crafts your orb. Wait for the animation and pick up the finished Rift Orb.
Materials and progress
The crafter chooses both the materials and their quantities when you insert the shard. Its current pool includes dirt, cobblestone, glass, iron and gold ingots, diamonds, emeralds, Nether Stars, logs, and planks. Follow the requirements displayed for your craft; some accept alternative materials, such as several types of logs or planks.
Your shard is committed once inserted. Closing and reopening the table keeps the same requirements and any materials already supplied. Leveling up afterward does not change the level recorded for that orb.
Reading the result:
Check the orb's level, theme, objective, modifiers, and remaining modifier capacity before using it. An orb may have random properties and modifiers when it is first made. You can then take a compatible orb to the Focus Infuser to customize it, or follow the Dungeons guide to prepare your run and open a portal.
Focus Infuser
The Focus Infuser customizes a Rift Orb before you enter a dungeon. Focuses change its modifiers, Relics select its objective, and Sigils select its theme. These affect the future run stored in that orb.
Crafting recipe:
Use one item in each occupied slot to craft one Focus Infuser. Use the custom Midnight Stone shown in the grid.
Using the interface:
Put your Rift Orb in the centre. Place Focuses in the slots on the left, a Relic in the objective slot on the right, and a Sigil in the theme slot on the right. You can make just one of these changes or combine compatible changes in the same infusion.
Check your selections, use the apply button, and take back your orb. Applied items are consumed. Read the updated orb description before opening a portal.
Focus types:
The Mage sells five Focus types. Each has a listed benefit and adds a drawback roll. Use the pictures below to recognize them.
Focus | Effect shown on the item |
|---|---|
Wooden Focus | Woody: 25% Wooden Chest bonus. |
Armory Focus | Geared: 25% Armory Chest bonus. |
Ascension Focus | Shrine: 25% Ascension Chest bonus. |
Extended Focus | Clockup: 2 minutes 30 seconds more dungeon time. |
Random Focus | One random positive modifier roll. |
Each Focus normally adds a random negative modifier roll. A curse roll can replace that negative roll, giving the orb a harsher drawback. The chance is 1% for each of the first five Focuses applied to an orb, then rises by 5 percentage points for each additional Focus: 6% on the sixth, 11% on the seventh, and so on.
This counts Focuses already applied to the orb, including earlier infusions. Splitting them across several visits does not reset the count. The menu also checks how many Focuses can fit with the orb's existing listed modifiers. Check the remaining capacity rather than assuming every orb has the same amount of room.
The Dungeon modifiers reference explains the effects and whether each modifier is positive, negative, or a curse.
Relics and Sigils:
Use a Relic when you want a particular objective and a Sigil when you want a particular dungeon theme. They use their own slots and serve a different purpose from Focuses.
Item | Selection |
|---|---|
Essence Relic | Spirit Essence objective. |
Treasure Relic | Treasure Hunt objective, called Treasure Quest on the item. |
Cave Sigil | Cave theme. |
The objective or theme must still be unassigned or random. The interface will reject a Relic or Sigil if that property has already been selected; these items cannot replace an existing choice.
The Mage sells Essence and Treasure Relics. Use available recipes for craftable items such as the Cave Sigil, and check the recipe book for their ingredients and layout. Read the Mage guide for the shop's stock and the Dungeons guide for how the objectives work.
Focus Fragments:
Focus Fragments are crafting materials used in Focus recipes and the Focus Infuser recipe. You can find them in Ascension loot. A fragment is not a complete Focus and cannot be applied to an orb as one.
Runic Forge:
The Runic Forge changes eligible equipment using Runes. Put the gear in the centre, Scrap Metal in the upper slot, and the Rune in its matching outer slot. The buttons beside the Rune slots apply their corresponding effects.
Crafting recipe:
Use one item in each occupied slot to craft one Runic Forge. Use the custom Midnight Stone shown in the grid.
Costs and crafting potential:
The interface displays the Scrap Metal cost and crafting potential cost for the selected gear and Rune. A successful application consumes the Rune, spends the Scrap Metal, and reduces the equipment's crafting potential. This is a limited resource on the equipment, so choose changes with your intended build in mind.
Only compatible equipment and Rune effects can be used. For example, Generation needs room for an additional modifier, while Purge needs an existing modifier it can remove. A disabled action can mean the selected gear is unsuitable, an input is missing, or the gear has no crafting potential left.
The new result is rolled when you apply the Rune. Rerolling does not guarantee a stronger item, and Purge removes a random modifier rather than one you choose. Read the equipment afterward to see its new properties.
Rune effects:
Prefixes and suffixes are groups of additional equipment modifiers; implicits are the equipment's core modifiers. The Armory guide explains these properties and their attributes in detail.
Rune | Effect |
|---|---|
Generation | Adds a random prefix or suffix, if an eligible slot is available. |
Purge | Removes a random prefix or suffix. |
Fate | Rerolls the tier of one random prefix or suffix. It may improve or worsen it. |
Chaos | Rerolls the types of prefixes and suffixes. |
Dawn | Rerolls prefix types, leaving suffixes unchanged. |
Dusk | Rerolls suffix types, leaving prefixes unchanged. |
Renewal | Rerolls implicit modifier types. |
Restoration | Rerolls the number of repair slots. Unavailable once the gear has been repaired. |
Buy the appropriate Rune from the Mage, then check the forge's costs and availability for your equipment before applying it.
Restoration and durability repair:
Restoration changes repair slots; it does not restore durability. The separate Rune of Repair repairs durability in an anvil and is not one of the Runic Forge's eight Runes. See the Armory guide for the repair process.
Scrap Station:
The Scrap Station, also called the Scrap Table, recycles eligible equipment into Scrap Metal. Open the station, put unwanted gear in its input area, and collect Scrap Metal from the output on the right.
Crafting recipe:
Use one item in each occupied slot to craft one Scrap Station. Use the custom Midnight Stone shown in the grid.
Salvaging equipment:
The station processes inserted gear automatically. Scrapping consumes that equipment, so only insert pieces you want to recycle. The amount of Scrap Metal depends on the equipment; it is not a fixed refund for every item.
Use the Scrap Metal at the Runic Forge to pay for Rune applications. Keep equipment you intend to wear, reforge, or trade out of the station's input area.
If a table will not accept an item:
Check the input:
Each slot accepts specific item types. A Focus Fragment cannot replace a Focus, and ordinary items cannot replace custom recipe ingredients. Use the slot intended for that item and check that the equipment is eligible for the station.
Check the orb or equipment:
At the Focus Infuser, check remaining capacity and whether the objective or theme is already selected. At the Runic Forge, check the required Rune, Scrap Metal, crafting potential, and whether the effect can apply to that equipment.
Check permission to use the table:
If a placed workstation cannot be opened, check whether you have permission to interact with it in that claim. The Guilds and Claims guide explains access to claimed areas.
